Thanks To Theo (literally)
We are immensely proud to name our place in honour of Theo Xenophou (1931-2023) who bought the building in the late 1990s and developed the Botanic Apartments located a stone’s throw away from the taverna.
Theo, of Greek-Cypriot descent, migrated from Cyprus in 1950 at the age of 19. From working at Penfolds Magill Estate, to being a tram driver in the 1950s, to becoming a builder and then dabbling in writing books and poetry, he was a true character and a great migrant success story.
Above all, nothing made Theo happier than big, boisterous family gatherings – to share his love of Greek and Cypriot food. We hope your experience at Thanks To Theo will make you feel the same way!
We’re a modern Greek restaurant nestled at 6 East Terrace, Adelaide. Our menu is a tribute to the warm Mediterranean hospitality and the joy of dining together. We emphasize dishes meant for sharing, crafted with love (and just the right amount of salt!) using fresh, seasonal ingredients.
Whether you’re looking for a leisurely meal, a family dinner, a birthday gathering, or a friendly get-together, Thanks To Theo offers a feast of Greek cuisine that celebrates both tradition and togetherness.
We welcome you with open arms.
